After an exciting start to the season in Australia, the teams headed off to Malaysia to continue the action. Though the numbers were still low, the tension in the air was high. Jamie Franklin, of whom had competed in the F1 league the year before would now be joining F2 after being ousted from Mercedes, in favour of rookie, Alex Tonge.
McLaren were the first team to bring both of their drivers to a track, with Alfie in the Sauber and Filip Nilsson in the Mercedes.
It was clear from the off that McLaren were on the pace once again, with Jamie Franklin taking pole position, ahead of Alfie Widger, Tom Robson and Filip Nilsson. Jamie showing great pace, whilst qualifying on the primes.
The race itself showed McLaren's, and Jamie's true dominance, with a commanding lead of over 40 seconds, by the time the British driver greeted the chequered. Alfie and Tom battled their way to the end, with the McLaren driver coming out on top and securing the team's first one-two.
After the race, Jamie thanked the team for all of its efforts over the winter, and was generally pleased with how the season was shaping up.
